Dear (Director of Child Services),
On (date), I reported [judge’s first name][last name] of [county family court] to the Department of Child Services for repeated instances of child abuse. I made my report to the local county office where I spoke to (social worker). As of this date, no action has been taken.
It is clear that the Department of Child Services does not take emotional child abuse seriously. As you are the Director of Child Services, I would ask that you provide a status of the investigation into (Judge’s name) by (county) Child Services office. I would also ask that you provide a response as to whether or not the Department of Child Services believes that emotional abuse is a major issue and whether it investigates claims of emotional abuse.
As the state agency director in charge of protecting children, I trust that you have reviewed the research on prolonged separation of child and parent. Even though I know that you know the ins and outs of emotional abuse, I see no evidence that it is a priority for your organization because (Judge’s name) has not been investigated. (Judge’s name) repeatedly fails to recognize clear incidents of emotional child abuse and (Judge’s name’s) repeatedly sending my children into emotionally abusive situations warrants immediate action.
(Judge’s name) has on numerous occasions failed to safeguard my children by ordering or allowing custody plans and visitation schedules that traumatize my children. These custody plans and visitation schedules are directly harmful to my children. As a sitting judge, (Judge’s name) has an obligation to protect children from abusive situations but does not do so. (Judge’s name’s) custody plans and visitation schedules and the children they impact should be investigated to show that these plans and schedules are harmful to children.
Based on psychological research and statements from the American Psychological Association, repeated separation from parents leads to serious trauma, anxiety and depression. For children throughout this country and, in particular, in the jurisdiction in which (Judge’s name) holds office.
Despite seeing these symptoms, (Judge’s name) continues to substitute (his/her) opinion for the best interests of children. Knowing that emotional child abuse is ongoing in countless family homes and doing nothing about it is the definition of disregard for these children and the definition of a judge that should not be on the bench.
Emotional abuse is every bit as damaging as sexual abuse. Despite pleas for help (Judge’s name), repeatedly does nothing to help these children. I have attached empirical evidence detailing the harmfulness of the visitation schedules and custody plans put into place by (judge’s name). Not only does (Judge’s name) put children in harm’s way, but the Department of Child Services shields (Judge’s name) from consequences by refusing to investigate allegations against (Judge’s name). I hope that this research will prompt you to improve my children’s lives and protect them from abuse. You can protect my children by investigating (Judge’s name) who does not protect children.
Attachment A is a press release that defines emotional child abuse as bad as sexual abuse, if not worse. The press release is from the American Psychological Association dated October 2014.
Attachment B is a letter from the American Psychological Association that explains with empirical evidence and decades of psychological research from the most prestigious psychological organization in the United States that “IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AND THE FAMILY TO KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER,” and the sudden and unexpected family separation of parents and children without any doubts causes trauma.
Please let me know when the case file will be ready for me to pick up. I would like to know the timeline as this is an imminent danger to my children.
Sincerely,
[your name here]
